Steelsmith/Stahlschmidt
Greetings cousins,
Jacob Stalschmidt came here to settle in Lancaster PA in the late 18th century. There were 2 sons: Jacob and Lewis. Lewis had 3 sons: Michael, John, and Jacob. I descend from Michael, and The owner of this site probably descended from Jacob. Both Michael and Jacob#3 had among their many children sons called Amos. The Amos from Michael (who made and lost several fortunes in Pennsylvania oil and was my Great great uncle) married Liz Davidson ( I have their photos) . They had a daughter Sadie who became a New York actress and married Bill Braun. They then had twin sons who were known as Jake and Feathers. I have always assumed that these were nick names, but was never quite sure given the "exotic" nature of their actress mother. It all seems to fit doesn't it.
So now how can I get in touch with the writer of the query regarding Samuel Amos Steelsmith Braun?
I just noticed that I could have made the contact without registering, I hope you don't mind my logging on.
I'm very happy to finally learn more about Jake and Feathers.

Genealogy Etc.
Thanks, I look forward to it In the meantime, I'll gather up some material for you. If I could view the family tree to which you referred, I could make sure it's the same family. Steelsmith is such an uncommon name that it's almost certainly of the same tree I'm connected to. Genealogy is an interesting pursuit, but not one in which everybody is interested. For one thing, many folks are wary of digging up new relations when they seem to have quite enough of them to deal with already.. In any case, I'm trying to gather information for those who eventually want to know, Often young people are not interested, but regret in later years not having been more curious early on. After a while, when you really begin to grasp the extent of the family web you uncover, it becomes very clear that you are in fact related to everybody. In the end genealogical research connects you to the past in ways that the study of mere history does not.
By the way, I found you through Facebook. I've just got around to opening an account.
